End of Lockdown, Level 4

Level 3 We had a bit of a milestone here today as the country moved into Level 3 of lockdown. Retail is fully opened up except for personal care, and the restrictions that remain enforce social distancing more than anything else (no gyms, organised sport, must work from home if possible, etc). But the biggest change seems to be in the mental mindset: we are in this for the long haul, the virus aspect of it is going to get

Level 3 from Monday…

Yesterday our President spoke to us again, and announced that we are all moving down to Level 3 on June 1 (Monday). I have mixed feelings about this (the economy needs to get moving, but lots and lots of people are about to die). As it is, the hospitals are already becoming overwhelmed, and neither Level 3 nor winter has arrived yet. Dire times. I’m staying put. In fact, I am going to go into even stricter lockdown than I

Where did my Saturday go?

Last night I was chatting to a friend, and he asked me what my plans were for the weekend. I had a quick and confident answer: “Tomorrow is my day. I’m going to spend it writing, updating my blog, working on my professional site.“. Easy peasy. Except that it is now 10pm, and I have only managed to sit in front of the computer now. So, what happened to my Saturday? And it’s not just today. Everyday seems to just

A boring #lockdown update

I’ll give today a 7/10? That seems fair. 1. Projects X, Y and Z Project X is almost ready to go live. And has been for the past week, so that should give you a clue about the frustrations that lockdown can bring. But, we have prevailed, and if all goes well, fingers crossed, I’ll launch it tomorrow, errors and all. It is very much a MVP, but equally good enough to “fuck it, just ship it”, so I’ll iron

So how are we all doing? #Lockdown Day 40

I don’t actually know if it is Day 40. It vaguely feels like it, given that that last week Thursday was Day 35 (I think). Days blur into each other, which seems to be a common theme for most. Monday already? Nevertheless, I had a definite “urgh” moment when I woke today into a bright Monday morning. I took that as a good sign. It was almost as if my internal system was telling me that we made it through

The Bucketlist for surviving #Covid19

So we have to get used to a new normal. And for the near future, the new normal is pretty whacked, let’s be honest. On the plus side, this is a great opportunity to catch up on stuff, do those pesky little things that I never get the time to finish, to expand my knowledge, spend more quality time with the kids. So here is a bucket list of things I could do while in self-isolation. I am not saying

I’m overwhelmed.

This year has been a bit of a cluster-fuck all around, if I have to be honest. 2019 did not end well as it was, and 2020 was supposed to bring hope and renewal. Instead it has brought pain, heartache, anxiety, fear and … horror? I think those who know me well will say that I am generally a positive person. I’m definitely an optimist. It’s not that I deal with adversity particularly well (I don’t), but I try to

It’s the end of the world (as we know it)

I mean, seriously? It’s barely mid-March, and the whole world is falling apart around us. I don’t even have to update you, or explain it to you, because no matter where you are in the world, you know what I am talking about. Isn’t that wild? As someone said on Facebook the other day, this is the first time that every single person or country is battling the same problem. Wild, I tell you! Information changes daily. Each day is
